From September 26th to 28th our grade 9 St. Elizabeth CHS Smart Start students participated in a three day, two night trip to the world-renowned Scientific exhibition and teaching facility, Science North, in Sudbury, ON.
Our Smart Start students were engaged in two full days of hands-on science and geography programming filled with fun and interactive demos and curriculum connected workshops and displays. Students also had the opportunity to get to know one another better and experience the fall colours in beautiful Northern Ontario.
The trip was filled with time for discovery, and inquiry-based learning activities. Students had many opportunities to practice their critical thinking and problem-solving skills in fun and interactive ways. The knowledgeable ‘Blue Coat’ educational staff were excellent guides facilitating hands-on exploration and collaborative learning challenges for our students.
Overall, it was an excellent opportunity for our amazing students to have some fun and form bonds with one another and we look forward to offering this trip to our incoming Smart Start students in the fall of 2019.
